put oil designed for diesel into my petrol car

    Diesel oil tends to have more detergents. If you know its the wrong oil why have you not changed it?

    Possibly because it's not the wrong oil?
    the spec on the manual on my car is vw 503 00, the spec on the bottle was vw 504 00 & vw 507 00

    So the oil he used meets both the (revised) petrol and diesel specs and can be used in either.

    I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
