New and 1st question.

I had a browse to see if I could find an answer to my question but didn't realise there are 1000 pages! WOW!

Ok, I had and used my PPI when I was made redundant. No problem, I got more out than I paid in.

I got another job and after 12 months was made redundant again (2005), but rather than go unemployed I started my own business. That didn't last long either (14 months) but when I tried to claim PPI I was told self-employment was not covered. Subsequently I was out of work for more than 1 year and eventually had to default. I did not tell them I'd started my own business I just assumed I'd be covered.

Any advice on if I can/should claim?

Thanks.

  • You can't claim unless you were mis-sold the insurance initially. Not only did your circumstances change (and you never told them), but you had already claimed on the insurance earlier!

There is nothing in your post which constitutes a valid PPI mis-selling complaint.

even if you were successful, as you said, you got more out than you paid in so your successful claim would be deducted from your redress anyway.

  • Thanks people. I could have legitimately claimed PPI for my 2nd redundancy but my own decision was to go self-employed thinking I'd be covered... Live and learn.

But you are up on the deal, and never assume/think it just doesn't help
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Actually not up on the deal overall, but I'm not complaining... it is my mistake, and I was quick to accept the information given and thank the posters.

As a new poster I was merely asking for advice. That is partly what this forum is for?
