  • Nothing to add other than a massive well done for being so honest to the OP. It's pleasing, after reading some of the stories of lies, deceit and cheating that goes on, to see a bit of good old fashioned 'doing the right thing'.

    Shame decency, integrity, morals and 'the right thing' are not more fashionable ...

    Perhaps the law, politicians and banks could change and lead by example ...

    If the solicitor hadnt been informed of this error by yourself they would have had to pay the error themselves if the money could not be recovered from yourself. However knowing you was only entitled to a 12th and not saying anything would have meant you had committed theft. So honesty is the best policy.

    I think that a lot of us get a bit lost in the laws of inheritance and would have just assumed that the solicitor was correct.
