The Cheddar Gorge circular walk is excellent, great bird's eye views down onto the road up the gorge.

Possiby worth calling over to Glastonbury if you get the chance.I came, I saw, I melted0 -
to be honest there doesn't seem to be a lot free in Cheddar, depending o n how long you're staying there it may be worth getting a day ticket on the bus (£7,00 and doing Glastonbury & Wells) If you have a car it's beautiful around there . The main tourist attraction - the caves- is priceyproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

when we were in cheddar last year we really wanted to do the steps. but you had to get a really expensive ticket for everything else. speaking to the barman in the local pub he sent us up a very steep path to the top otf the gorge by the watchtower and we were able to come down the steps at no charge.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

The White Hart behind the ice cream parlour does great food!0

On the way there head off the Awhateveritis north at Bruton Town and find Keene's Farm. Their unpasteurised cheddar truckles are to die for..0

Was in Cheddar only last month, the Gorge was packed , and as has already been posted , expensive. But the surrounding area is beautiful . So plan to spend a long afternoon at the Gorge and then explore the surrounding area.0

Sillyvixen, that sounds like a nice walk.
Might have to check out The White Hart.0 -

Priddy pubs ....... one has recently closed and the other is Queen Vic .
Not the cleanest of pubs and last month had a problem with wasps .
But the seating is quaint !
But if you are going down Swildon's Hole , ( I did ) any pub on the return is wonderful .0 -
Don't buy the combined ticket to the attractions - it's not that great... and as already stated, VERY expensive!!
If you walk up the Gorge and take the trail on the left, you'll have a short circular walk which will show you the best views. Get a walking map, which you can pick up for free.
There's a fab little crazy golf place which is cheap and wicked fun... Also, Tuckers chip shop has to be up there with the best in the South West.
Get a punnet of strawberries and some clotted cream (and some scrumpy cider) from one of the farms on the way into the village, and take it on your walk!!:T DEBT FREE AS OF APRIL 2013! :T"I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul"0
