Internal brickwork

The prior occupants removed most of an internal wall to make the lounge and dining room open plan.
We want the block wall rebuilt and made good. Also, we want two 4 foot high brick pillars removed from the sides of the arch at other end of the dining room (more open plan!). Finally, the chimney in the loft needs to be knocked out a bit and gallows brackets added to support it (prior occs removed the breast from lower floors but left the stack in the loft propped up on wood).
Anyhoo, the quote we have is:
Remove existing chimney from within loft space (approx 600mm). Install gallows brackets under chimney within loft. £265.
Remove existing flooring to install new block wall. Build up new block wall within opening between two rooms. Strip wall paper where needed,. Plaster both sides of new block work wall. Remove 2no. brick nibs to kitchen area, plaster arch and make good to within kitchen. Replace timber skirting where needed once plastering works are carried out. Rads to be removed and set aside for customers own tradesman to replace. £1850.
No VAT as not VAT registered.
We live in London. Not Central London. Near the M25.
This is the only quote we have got! We had 3 builders come and have a look, had a good chat with all of them but 2 weeks later and only one has sent us a quote. Is that normal? I could chase them up but I wonder if it is worth it. If a tradesman can't be bothered or sufficiently well organized to send a quote, he doesn't sound promising. Perhaps the others just didn't want the work (?).
