Halifax card fraud - am I liable? Panicking!
Comments
-
You are not liable for fraud unless you have been negligent e.g. leaving PIN number written down.
Even then, the most you can be held liable for is £50. This is set by the CCA1974, whatever the CC/Lending Code says about liability in the case of (gross) negligence.
Only if YOU are involved in the fraud can you be held liable for the whole lot.0 -
When I received my Clarity card there was no activation requirement and it was ready to go straight out of the envelope.Normally you have to activate the card either online or by telephone, cant remember if I did or didn't with my clarity card but I did with my new Santander card.
PIN was received two days beforehand in a very similar looking envelope.0
