Spam was reported and deleted by the forum team, I'm not a fan of referencing spam for this very reason, just hit the spam button and if enough people point it out its deleted in good time.

Some people actually quote the spam, which then becomes the only evidence of it but also promotes the spammers message.

I did it as newbies don't use the spam button, and I didn't want this shyster taking anyone in. Posting it as spam helps them to press the button. Could have been there for hours otherwise.

And no, I never quote it.

Okay .. understood the need to stop spam but what was meant with your final sentence?

Don't take things so personally, and perhaps re read. People generally respond to questions (as I would have to you if I had gotten there before Big) and to possible criticism, where Big implies I should not post that I reported spam. I explained why I do it, as I can see from your response you probably would not have reported it yourself as a fairly new poster.

I takes more than one person to report a spam post, and that takes time. The longer the post stays and is read, the longer newbies can be lured into the web of the fraudsters.

We see what happens here to such unfortunate people (when they come for help after being scammed), so we try to help by taking away any temptation to click where one should not.

The police mutual products are indeed very poor. They are encouraged by the union and even management (leaflets in staions etc) and it is a disgrace.

I wish my generation had received financial education at school!

Yep, that is what I think.

And no, I don't worry about your opinion of my self really. But others are more sensitive in that regard. So maybe l worry if they are new to reporting spam they might be caught in your crosshairs for a personal comment/correction?

Surely it is better it is reported sooner rather than later- esp here where there are (even after the site was bought out by a commercial company) apparently too few moderators to remove posts quickly enough? They say they only have a couple of moderators so can't be fast.

I care about newbies being drawn in to schemes and cold callers.

So, critcize me all you like for mentioning a spam post (w/o quoting the material). If it helps one person to report it, or to not click there while it remains, I am a happy camper.
