maybe a quick engine flush would help....... couldn't hurt!
i think you can buy some from Halfords (or other retailers lol! Do quidco, get cashback!!)I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
I had a similar problem which turned out to be a bit of plastic broken off the petrol filter and sticking sometimes in the fuel hose - this was a few years back, but muck in the petrol tank sounds like a good place to start to me. My car foxed AA men and mechanics alike for some months, so it's not easy to spot.
Good luck with finding the problem.0 -
Hi I had a similar problem on my mazda. It went on for weeks would drive along and all of a sudden bumpp bump and engine cut out.It was in and out of garage and they couldnt find a problem and it usually started up again after about half and hour.Anyway a really good AA man said it could be something called the module, it is worn out and when the car is warmed up the module cuts out, the car then cooled down and the module worked again.I got a new module very cheap and my dad fitted it, only took 5 minutes and the car was fine.Im not very motor minded so I dont know what the module does but it worked.0

i had a smiliar problem with my Saxo VTR and it came down to the fact it was a dirty sensor that controlled air and fuel mixture.
Have u tried looking at any of the Freelander forums that are about? as it may be a common problem

Hubby's heap started this about a month ago but we haven't the money to take it to the garage yet. It will drive but as soon as the rev counter hits 2 1/2 it loses all power. The pick up is terrible and it will not go over 50mph. I'm hoping its something like spark plugs or leads as these aren't too pricey!0

I had almost exactly the same problem, a few years ago, on a BMW 7 series (NO car is immune from problems and it was a long time before I discovered DFW  ). That turned out to be the air mixture valve which costed me about £90  , but I went on to take the car up to 245,000 miles with no further problems.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
