Airmiles card successes?

These are the only cards I'm interested in.

Are they any more difficult to acquire than regular cards?

I have a Freedom Rewards card and it's okay I just don't benefit from it, yes I get points but I don't use them, granted it is better than the Initial where I got diddly.

It has been maybe six months since I applied for an Airmiles reward card.

I presume you mean Avios? If so you've got a few options from Tesco Credit Card (points can be turned into Avios at a reasonable rate), Lloyds and/or TSB Avios cards, or AMEX.

There are also a number of other cards which you can indirectly convert into Avios eg Marriott Rewards.

    Depends what you ultimately want.

Right ok. From what I know the highest rate of earning would be the AMEX BA card. I'm not sure how difficult they are to get compared to the average card - you could try headforpoints.com for further information - I find it a useful tool for benchmarking mileage earning opportunities.

Thanks I just applied and was accepted for the Lloyds TSB Duo Avios Credit Card. I was previously denied for the BA Amex so I believe it's not the right time

  • You should read up on the qualification critera for the sign up bonus on the Lloyds card - people have had problems in the past.

I haven't had the card but my understanding is that you must spend £500 a month in the first three months to qualify. The spend can only be on the Amex card, not the visa one and Lloyds define the 'month' as being the date of acceptance (ie today). So you would need to spend £500 before Oct 9th for the first month.
