Redundancy, JSA and redundancy policy

Hi,
I have a few questions please!
I think i will be made redundant shortly (rumours are spreading, and we've been called in for a meeting tomorrow!)
I have an insurance policy in case of redundancy.
Questions:
Will I automatically be entitled for JSA?
I believe I have to be getting JSA for my policy to pay out.
Also - I am being made redundant from my main job. I also do some craft work, occasionally, and declare this to HMRC (really doesn't earn me a lot, maybe £50 a month - but I declare it anyway). Will the insurance still pay out if i'm doing this small amount of work still?
Thanks.

You need to read your policy documents.
You will be entitled to contribution based Jobseekers Allowance if you have made appropriate NI contributions.
It is likely that the insurance policy says it will pay if you are registered as unemployed - that is not exactly the same as receiving JSA as you can be registered as unemployed but not receiving JSA. Check.
You can be registered as unemployed and still be doing 15 hour 59 minutes of work in a week, so your craft work is not likely to prevent your registering.0 -
you must ring the job centre to arrange your 1st interview over the phone , it can last about 40 mins. Make SURE you get the name of the person who talks to you. Do it straight away when your job finishes. Any delay will result in you losing a weeks JSA. You also wont get it if you have a private pension. That's what happened to me at the age of 60, payed my stamp all those years:mad:0
