Trench coat ruined by the rain or dry cleaners?

Oops. No lining pictures there. There is an old eBay listing for it that shows the lining although really oddly, their mac has the lining on the collar as well, but mine didnt't. Apart from that -identical.
I believe different suppliers make the same items so maybe not all used the same glue. Obviously some lined the collar as well.
Grrrrr.....0 -
Or the eBay one is a fake?

You can't see the lining but I know what you mean. Do chase it up as its an expensive piece. If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -
Popped into Hobbs in my lunch hour and showed them the coat.
The manager agreed it looked awful. I was completely honest about what I'd done, had it dry cleaned, got soaked, what my tailor said etc. and she offered me a full refund.
I was stood there in a Hobbs skirt and cardigan with a receipt so maybe that helped.
Well done Hobbs!!
Will never use the dry cleaners again which is a shame as I've used them for 15 years and my tailor insisted the material would have puckered as soon as the too hot steam reached it so they must have deliberately pressed this out. This would have been time consuming and left the material stiff. This does tie in with how the coat felt Monday morning.
I would have preferred a little honesty as compensating me would have cost a lot less than me not using them again.
Now need a lightweight trench or coat.0 -
Thats brilliant news that you got sorted with Hobbs.
If you do use the dry cleaners again - as you have used them for 15 years, and sounds like it is a 50/50 fault between manufacturer and dry cleaning.
Ask their procedure - also ask for a note to be put with the coat re concerns, 9as when we did clothes - the till use to produce a little ticket with numbers to match the receipt, and would put a note then this got entered into a book so whoever did the washing - the process included double checking the label then we could check to see what had been wrote, xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
