advice on a default

Hi ,
my credit file shows a default from 2009 with my current phone contract, the balance was cleared just weeks after the default occurred, however as I still have a contract with the same provider the account has still shown a small balance every month since the default.
I read somewhere that its best the have a default settled as soon as possible after it happens and just wondered if, because I still use this account, it will appear as though I have never cleared it?
Thanks

Hi
Is it clear from your report the account is now up to date? e.g. have you got 'green' '0' status markers or 'ok' markers in the monthly payment history (depending on which agency report you are viewing)?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thanks for replying.
I am using Experian. Due to defaulting it continues to show the [8] since the date of the default, however because the account is still in use my monthly bill amount is presented in the balance section as opposed to a satisfied or settled, and has been for every update, I never miss a payment but worry that it will have a negative effect on my rating more so that if it was showing as satisfied or settled.0
