Extended warranty void!
Hi all
Due to oversight on my service book, I missed a service and checked my extended warranty with toyota is void. My last service was done at 40k in sep 2012 and the way it was stamped on my service book I was assuming my next service is due 6 year or 60k whichever is earlier and hence I forgot to got my car serviced at 50k
So I wanted to check, as my current extended warranty is void can I buy a new extended warranty from toyota and will it be valid now? Any idea how much it can cost for 3 years?
Thanks

Extended warranties are always a way of lining company pockets, on a Toyota even more so. Save your cash and draw on it if required.0

I reckon you've had it warranty wise.
Don't worry too much cos Toyotas seldom if ever need warranty work, unlike that German/French tat.
Do however keep it serviced as you should every 10k, and slip an oil change in between if you want a really long life out of it.0 -
Presumably you had it serviced by Toyota?
Does your service book have a space where they write 'next service due in X miles or on Y date? If so, and it hasn't been filled in, you could potentially whinge at the dealer over that?
I wouldn't hold out too much hope though. Presumably the onus is on you to remember.0 -
Thanks guys, actually my car is serviced at toyota and the warranty was also with toyota extended warranty.
Yes the service book had placeholders like 40k or 4 years whichever is earlier and so on. So my last service was stamped at 50k or 5 year placeholder when the miles on car were 40k and hence it confused me as I always looked at the next placeholder which said 60k or 6 years and missed out the 50k interval
I will check with them today if there is any way out0 -
It's a shame Toyota didn't contact you when the service was due.
I have a Vauxhall under the lifetime guarantee, this year I had two letters direct from Vauxhall reminding me to validate my warranty card, a letter from the supplying garage and a call and letter from my regular local dealer.0 -

As its partly the dealers (as Toyotas representative here) fault for putting the stamp in the wrong box, if i understand correctly, then it might be worth contacting the excellent customer services atToyota UK at Epsom or Ewell??, have been there several times can never remember which.
In the circumstances they might come up with something, and even if they don't as such once on record they might well be more sympathetic should a failure of something go wrong within Toyotas normal extended time frame for standing by their product.
You would be able to scan and send the relevent mis-stamping to them for proof if required.
Without doubt Toyota beat the others hands down when it comes to customer service so its worth pursuing.0 -
Thanks again guys
Spoke to my Toyota dealee and they were quite cooperative. They tried with Toyota warranty and they didn't agreed but the dealer has agreed to put it into his systems to abide by same t&cs till my actual warranty would've covered.
I guess that's fair enough and very kind of them0
