driving and arm in plaster
Apologies if this covered elsewhere, couldn't find anything searching.
I have fractured my scaphoid bone left hand, and am now in plaster from below elbow to below knuckles. thumb is free.
Consultant today said would be ok to drive, as long as I was comfortable with it, and I wouldn't need to inform insurance co.
Anyone got any experience of this? Is this really ok?
I wouldn't be trying for a few days as getting used to it at the moment!

everyone is different, but there can be medical limitations in your insurance term and cons, such as being in plaster.
i would have thought the pols wouldnt see it as being in full control of your vehicle, just like taking a sip of pop whilst driving.0 -
I'd ask for a letter of confirmation from the doc.0

How will you put the handbrake on/off or grip the gearlever?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

they will almost certainly play it safe and declare not safe to drive to cover their backs.0 -
I wonder whether the doc's comment was related more to whether you'd do your wrist any harm by driving, as opposed to whether you will be able to be in complete control of the vehicle?
I'm not sure that a letter from the doc, who hasn't seen your car, and probably wouldn't be counted as an expert in vehicle safety by a court, would protect you if you were to be stopped by the police - particularly if there was anything about your driving which wasn't up to the required standard.0 -

I think you are very wise! It's not so much if everything goies smoothly, but it doesn't have to be you to make a mistake that calls for drastic manoeuvres on your part.0

Great decision. If you don't feel safe or comfy it might be a pain but it is best you don't get stressed out by it all.
Get well soon. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0
