Hi,
I've recieved two identical emails (one pasted below) from tesco value car insurance which are summaries of quotes which I know nothing about. They list me as policy holder, someone I've never heard of as a named driver and its for a car I know nothing about. What should I do about this? I tried ringing up the number in the email, but got bored after waiting 5 minutes. Do I even need to do anything about it?
Thanks for any advice.
Rob.

It sounds like a phishing email to me.
Phoning the number might hook you up to a permium rate line. Or maybe the sender is hoping you'll send money to cover the premium
You don't say if your car insurance is with either company but if it's not, and you don't know the named driver, i'd be inclined to ignore/delete it.
Having just re-read your original post - "a car you know nothing about" - it definitely sounds like a scam.

Might not be. Somebody could have filled out a quote request and misspelt their email address, inadvertently using yours instead.
Hardly likely to be a clever fraud - after all, nobody is going to hand over credit card details to insure a vehicle they know nothing about.0 -
The email is definately from Tesco as I happen to be looking for car insurance and have a similar, legit quote from them for my car. I guess its the timing that has me spooked - any other time of year and I probably wouldn't pay it much attention.0

Could be a goof on their system then. Inspires confidence doesn't it
