It is worth paying for Creditexpert and Equifax

Dear all

I apologise if this has been responded before as I could not find the information in previous threads
I wonder whether it is worth paying for both services. I also need to update my new address for instance and I believe Equifax has the old address

Thanks in advance for your help

They are both more or less the same and I have only ever have Experian. But it depends what you want it for and how long you will need it. Experien used to be £6.99 a month and you paid extra on an individual basis if you wanted the credit score. Obviously that wasn't getting many takers because now you get that whether you want it or not, but it is £14.99 a month. That is outrageous in my opinion as it apparently has no bearing on what the lenders see anyway. You can get an old fashioned report by post for £2 if you just want a one off or there is Noddle which does it free, but if you have just moved you won't be able to get on to it.

If you are thinking of applying for credit then it is worth knowing what is on each of your 3 credit reports, that is experian (also branded as credit expert), equifax and callcredit (also branded as noddle).

For the vast majority of people its not worth paying the ongoing subscription fees with any of the services, just order the £2 statutory report from each agency every so often. Or with callcredit/noddle you can get the report from them free at any time.

It is worth ensuring all have you correct address if you are planning to apply for credit.

  • Thank you very much for your very helpful responses. I may join equifax for short period of time, change address and they I will look into noddle
    Have a wonderful evening
  • Don't join, you will have £9.00 taken from your account each month, if you do not cancel withing 30days, I got caught with this one, they took £14.00 from my account every month, and sometimes £20.00. This huge amount pays for an email once a month, think before you sign up unless you just want to throw your money away.
  • I signed up and have stupidly forgotton to cancel within the 30 days...can I still cancel ?

Yes, but this will ensure it doesn't renew next month. You will still be liable for the month you didn't cancel.

Lots of good advice for you already (I prefer the £2 statutory reports too), but just to say NEVER pay for your 'score' from Experian or Equifax and take the Noddle 'score' with a massive pinch of salt.
