Busy Laptop !!

Hi Guys, My newish laptop just seems really busy.It always seems as if things are running in the background,you know those annoying noises that indicate something is running.I have checked alt cont del and saw that there is not much running,so anyone please any ideas?

    how much ram has it got? which o/s?

    ctrl alt del, processes tab will show what it is, if anything is hogging the cpu other than system idle process.

    I have prevx1 which has been very good for stopping spyware etc and avg,,will check firewall...as i said i am not too techy,,as you can tell lol.
