Hi. I know this isn't really the thread for posting this (as it's not an auction site - perhaps Martin, you may be able to set up an online selling forum or amend this one to include other forms of selling aside from auctions??), but I was wondering if anyone here has had experience of selling books on the site https://www.greenmetropolis.com? Did anyone make a good return from selling books here? It just suprises me that all they make from each sale is 70p (Buyer pays £3.75 for book, seller recieves £3 (to which they need to take off the cost of postage), 5p goes to Woodland Trust, and the rest to the company.) I suppose that all these 70p's do add up at the end of the day!
Still seems a good place for selling some books that you wouldn't otherwise get a couple of quid for had it been sold on Amazon or eBay. No charges either for selling, and its a 3 day turnaround for withdrawal to be credited via BACS to your bank account (compared to Amazon who take about 10 days!)
Anyhow would like to know of other peoples experiences of this site, before going ahead and comitting myself to it.

The interface works well, and I have been happy with the money BUT there just aren't the levels of customers you get on Amazon, I'm afraid. I've only sold 2 books on greenmetropolis in over three months, compared to fifty on Amazon! You do get a good return but it's best to list on there and Amazon concurrently if you want to shift things. I don't really think it's publicised well enough, and TBH when I was looking to buy a pretty common book greenmetropolis didn't have it, and I can't say I'd look there first again.
I hope it does well but I'm not holding my breath. Also I didn't get my money any quicker than from Amazon.0 -
I have listed so many books in mint/near-mint condition on GreenMetropolis in the last year and not one has sold! I've put on bestsellers and harder to find stuff, fiction and non-fiction. Every book I've had on their has now been taken off and sold on Amazon.0

I was only recently introduced to greenmet (in the last few weeks) and I find it fantastic, I've already bought 8 fictions books and 2 photography books for the missus' degree.. this perfectly fit my needs, I think it could be hugely successful if it was promoted in some way, all you people who sell on their, do you suggest to your family and friends to look on it? Word of mouth is a superb way to get the word out, I know three of my family have also had a book each of their too, and I'd assume they'd be passing on the details too.. and so on and so on
saved me a few squids anyway, plus I accidentally put my old postcode so one of my books got returned to sender, but they contacted me and re-dispatched it without further charge, even though I acknowledge it was my mistake and offered to pay the additional postage, so decent service too.0 -
I list all my books on both Amazon and Greenmet. Although I must say I have much more success on Amazon, but as it doesn't cost anything to list on either of them then you can't really go wrong! Just remember to remove sold ones from the other site!!AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0033 come and join us :j make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board0
