Galaxy Tab 2 problems

Hi all, I purchased a Samsung Galaxy 2 tab yesterday after discussing it with the chap in Currys. I was undecided about the Galaxy 2 or the Google Nexus 7, the reason behind me buying it was that I wanted to download films for the kids as we are off on a flight soon which will be a few hours, so just to keep them amused. The chap at Currys said the Galaxy 2 has an internal memory of 8GB, but you can put in a micro SD and save films to that so you can have much more storage than the Nexus which has an internal memory only of 16GB. However, on getting home and actually using the tablet, it seems you can't save movies to the micro SD at all (unless you want to start breaking copyright laws), and with the operating system you only have about 4GB of actual storage which won't hold much at all. So my questions is do I have any right to take the tablet back even though its been used as I specifically told them the purpose I wanted it for and in my opinion was mis-sold it, had they actually told me the truth I'd have gone for the alternative.

Hi, I used Play movies to download one which ended up going to the internal storage, with no option to move it to the external SD card. I'd have been happy to do it this way if I'd got the one with the larger internal storage, as I did tell the chap I wasn't up to speed with all of this stuff.
I looked at other apps but I couldn't see how I download it and then move it to the external SD card. I'm guessing there is a way to do it as its a popular tablet, but as I'm new to it and not the most techinically minded I have no idea.
On googling it the consensus on android forums was that there isn't a way to do it without doing something dodgy! Any help is very gratefully appreciated!0 -
You can, of course, put any file on the SD card. That includes movie files, so the Currys guy was right (insert gag!).
OK Play Movies - I've no experience of this.
Only help I can offer is to go into settings, apps and move as may apps as you can onto the SD card, freeing up space on the internal memory for the films.
Also download ES File Explorer from the Play store to have a proper file manager.
Anyone able to move these?0 -
I have movies legally on the ext sd card i also have multiple you tube videos .
If they download on internal card then its cut and paste to ext sd card.
Google Play Movies allows you to buy movies .
Looks as the default is sd card for downloads on that app .
There are multiple apps to play videos on play store as well as the tabs video player from sd or ext sd card .
Take it back no as your problem is to do with the app you want to use not the tablet.
Unless you specifically said i want a tablet that lets me download or move movies to the ext sd card purchased through Google Movies .
Nexus is a slightly faster tablet but lacks ext sd storage .

Hi JJ, I managed to cut and paste photos from the internal to external memory, so I could definately do that, but two questions, and I apologise as I say I'm completely new to all of this, where could I download movies legally, and two when downloaded where would they be stored on the internal memory? Thanks0

Stored can be movies or video folder or downloads .
All my movies are already owned stuff ripped to MP4 .
Plus a lot of stuff from You Tube TV shows etc
Downloaded via Tubemate or You Tube . .
Many apps settings can have storage set to ext sd card .
stuff bought from Google Play has DRM protection. If you were able to move it to your SD Card, you could also move it to someone elses SD card...... so...that's why.0
