A couple (or more) of questions first!

    What benefits are you receiving?

How old is your daughter? Is she working/in education? Are they a couple (i.e considered to be living together as man and wife?
  • hi thanks for your reply i am on working and child tax credit housing benefit, my daughter is 17 and in full time ecucation, as for them living together as man and wife would it class as that

Since your daughter is in full time education you have no need to worry about their 'living together as man and wife' as regards benefits.

I am presuming that your daughter's boyfriend is just coming to live with your family and not as a lodger (slightly different rules).

As such he is classed as a non dependent. This will affect your housing benefit but not your tax credits.

A non dependent deduction will be made from your housing benefit. The amount can be found on your local council website. (Also applies to council tax support)

It is presumed that he will give you some money from his 'wages' to pay for his 'keep'. Even if he doesn't this amount will still be deducted.

You need to take proof of his income and take it to the local council and they will adjust your HB.

Edit. Apologies. The non dependent deductions will only apply when he is 18 years old (forgot he is only 17!)
