H & M Gift Cards Expire!

Apologies if this has already been posted but my search technique isn't the best...
Just a warning to anyone thinking of giving or have recently received a Gift Card from H&M - they expire after six months.
My daughter found this out recently when her Gift Card was refused at the checkout; the assistant told her it was the second one that the store had had in that day, and the store had called Head Office to check on the card's veracity because it had been electronically declined. HQ told her thart the card had expired.
So that was £25 wasted. Be warned - because there is no warning or expiry date on the card. If there is on the 'presentation card' that the actual plastic arrives on (I have no idea) , then make a note of it. Usually, the recipient tears the 'credit' card off thae packaging and discards it.
Other gift cards appear to have no expiry time (or at least a far longer shelf life) - Debenhams for instance has at least a two-year life. H&M are pulling a nice one here, IMO. Money can't expire (unless theres a total financial melt-down of course)so since these cards are basically substitutes, this is not a good way to treat customers.

OP did the shop tell you it's six months or are you assuming because that's how long you'd had the gift card?
Is it possible that the gift card was 'regifted'? That might explain why it's expired so quickly?0
