Which flooring for garage floor?

I've got a bare concrete garage floor. It's fairly rough and uneven. I'm hesitant to paint it as the paint will probably need redoing every couple of years and painting is generally good for a smooth floor surface.

So, i'm looking for an MSE-budget way of providing a nice floor to the garage. The garage isn't used for parking cars but will be used for storage and as a mini-workshop. It's a small single garage.

I thought about tiles but i'm wondering how they'll cope with the slight bumps and lumps.

I've found heavy duty floor paint to be fine for this sort of thing and unless you have a very heavy foot load it will wear well. I wouldn't think tiles would cope very well or at least you're going to have some huge lips between tiles.

It it was really dry , Carpet .

I agree with the 2 posters above- floor paint or carpet. Carpet tiles are great in a workshop.
