The problem with just skimming over Artex is that it will have a film of goo on it that will stop the plaster sticking to it properly. Also, the sharp points will mean that the plaster won't have a smooth finish. You need to scrape the sharp points off first and then use something like sugar soap to clean the Artex properly and let it dry before skimming.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0

i;ve had loads of rooms that have had artexed ceilings skimmed without problems , the plasterer will sort out the surface so it will be smooth , if they are half decent, that is0
