A&L,Nat.Flex ping pong

I made a mistake transferring money(£50) from my A&L current a/c to my own Nationwide Flex by omitting one digit of my flex account even though name is right.
Both are playing ping pong with me.
A&L reversed their phone agreement and sent me a letter saying they can't do anything as it was my mistake.
My local N. branch call centre said A&L should retrieve my money.
Question-As the money is with Nationwide with my correct name but wrong a/c number, surely N. can't not realise that?
I am going in person to my branch with all the details on thursday to see if they can help?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Oh I have been to speak to a A&L person in my local area and she said it is N.that should sort it out.I said "thank you and ping pong".

Result just being given my money back by the the inefficient A&L customer service.
Nationwide branch was very helpful. They wrote in august to say cheque in my name sent to A&L in june.
Then next ping pong game was A&L wanted evidence from Nationwide as there was no 50 credited to my account when they checked, bearing in mind , I can check myself too.All A&L did was delete my mistake.
I went back to nationwide a few times with A&L letter requesting evidence of the said returned cheque.
Inexplicably it took till the end of last year for Nationwide to send me photocopies of june 7th cheque. It had my name on and my account at A&L.
So my last ever letter to A&L with said photostat nationwide cheque was the quickest reply from them.Within 11 days from sending my letter, the money is now in my account.End of game.
I do know it is all my fault but it has put me off online transactions for ever.I was fortunate the money wasn't urgent or needed. If you are still reading, thanks.0
