SAMSUNG le32m87bdx 5years 8months old.
Hi, My tv seems to have developed a very strange fault.
When on standby it comes on by it's self from time to time.
I now need to make sure I pull the plug out.
It now takes much longer to come on, not the usual few seconds that it should take.
Wonder if anyone on here can help.
Thank you.

Have you been in the room using another device when this happens or does it happen when the room is empty?
There is a very small possibility that someone in another room or a nearby neighbour is using a remote control that is affecting your TV.
Something else could be emitting a signal that is triggering the TV to switch on. Strong sunlight has I believe been known to do that. (possibly an urban myth)
You could eliminate those possibilities by covering up the IR window on the TV and see if the fault persists.
The increased length of time to come on could simply be the difference between starting from cold and starting from standby.0 -
Hi,
I had the same fault with my Samsung TV, the symptom you describe where TV takes ages to come out of standby will get worse until the point comes when the TV will not come out of standby. The fault is very common and a google search for Samsung TV standby fault will bring up lots of hits. Mine happened after the TV was only 18 months old .
I enquired with Samsung about repair of the fault and they had a fixed charge of £160 at the time to fix any fault (except broken LCD glass) so I decided to fix it myself. The fault is 4 electrolytic capacitors on the power supply PCB which dry out and swell up, if you are confident enough to open the TV (disconnect from mains obviously) then you will find a PCB board mounted in the centre of the display, the faulty electrolytic capacitors will be really easy to see as they will be swollen so the tops of the cans are bulging. Any competent electronics engineer with a soldering iron will be able to fix this fault, replacement capacitors can be purchases from Maplin for a couple of pounds. Hope this helps.Bring on the Bling!0
