post to different address

Not ebayed for a while, just had a mass clear out. Someone asking for delivery to a different address to their paypal account - is this ok? Probably a daft question, but never had this before!:o

TIA

  • Depends on the value, depends if you were going to send it tracked or not and depends what it is.

Have a read of the postage sticky, that should help you.
  • Though I don't ebay any more I wouldn't do this as I'm sure if something happened and the item went astray, you wouldn't be covered.

Someone with more experience will no doubt be along soon to confirm or correct what I said.
  • Thanks - I will say sorry but have to stick to paypal. That was my gut reaction anyway. It's dirt cheap - but thats not the point is it?

    Yes it is the point.

Are you planning on sending it tracked?

Theonlywayisup is right - if its cheap whats the problem? And unless its sent tracked/recorded signed for - you have no protection off ebay or paypal anyway.

Anything of value i say no - otherwise its just not worth the hassle and the posssible crap feedback they leave.

Ive just bought something to deliver elsewhere - but i changed the name and address in ebay checkout and informed the seller. Its quite easy - and puts the seller at ease.

Was your gut reaction to follow the advice of the person who agreed with you (in which case why post) or get advice (in which case why did you ignore theonlywayisup).

I think some people follow the advice of those posts that they agree with and they ignore those they don't. Oddly, the Op seems to have agreed with someone who has also stated they don't have a clue, which is more worrying!

Thanks for your comments though, I do wish people would get their head around Seller Protection rather than just insisting on posting to the PayPal address.

Ultimately if the OP refunds and asks for the checkout to have the correct address they lose 20p.
