Second hand car

My husband brought a second hand car from a garage yesterday with sold as seen written on the receipt.
On the drive home on the motorway the front part of the car started vibrating and shaking when he got to 70mph. I was asked if I could get the wheel balancing checked today as he had to work.
After sitting waiting at Quickfit this morning for two and a half hours, they announced they couldn't do anything as the car hasn't got locking wheel nuts.............
After looking at it in daylight, it really wasn't worth the money he paid for it. He did take it for a test drive.
Can we take it back?

No, not really. Not just because you've changed your mind. Wheel balancing is a common issue, it naturally falls out of line due to wear - more so if driving on bumpy roads etc.0

i know Kwik Fit used to check wheel balancing for free, not sure if still do this.
https://www.selectatyre.co.uk/car-wheel-balancing offer a FREE Balance check0 -
Do they mean he has not got the key for the locking wheel nuts ?Be happy...;)0

Sounds like it- nothing wrong with the car, just a bit of buyers remorse.
OP- if you can't find the wheel nut key (I know I have experienced the same) take the car to a proper independent garage they cab still get them off. I would never recommend tasking a car to Kwik Fitt- they are dreadful and are not to be trusted in any way. Be warned.
There is no such thing as "free" especially at kwik fitt!0 -

well like the other link they offer a FREE CHECK, just like you getting a tradesman to give you a free estimate. so the work they do will be chargeable, just the check is free0 -
I would suggest that you get an inspection carried out on the state of the car.
Not only is "sold as seen" on a receipt meaningless, it is actually illegal when buying from a trader as irrespective of what the receipt states, the car must be as described, fit for purpose, and more importantly, roadworthy.
For a trader to write this term on a receipt would imply to me that they either don't know or care about the law, or they know that there is a problem with the vehicle and they are trying to evade their legal obligations.0
