good morning everyone:). feels very odd at moment, sitting in a very quiet house as DS2 has now started school full time:D, he was very excited but got nervous when it was time to go in. he is in all day today with the whole class, up until now he has only been in for a morning or afternoon with only his colour group (5 kids)

  • Delays must be over three hours to claim compensation

Compensation for delays is only due on flights arriving over three hours or more late. How long the delay is determines how much you could be entitled to. If the delay is two hours or more you could be due expenses at the airport for food, etc.
Crucially, this is a straight rule. It's about when you arrive, not when you leave. So if you’re on a flight that takes off 4 hours late but arrives 2 hours 55 minutes late, you’re not over the 3-hour delay needed to be eligible for compensation.

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/flight-delays#whatcounts

We were on a flight to the US that took off over 4hrs out we landed about 2hrs 58mins late BUT there was no-one at the gate, it remained locked, so we couldn't leave the plane for over another hour. Therefore we missed our connection (silly us left 41/2hrs+ for our connecting flight - we thought we'd chill & have a meal at one of the good restaurants in airport) We did get a late night connection so ended at our final destination a minute or 2 under the 3hrs delay.

Had we booked our connecting flight an hour after we first should have landed (could easily have done this) we would have been over 6hrs late arriving at our final destination. I think we could have got a good payout?

Wondering if we go again whether it's actually best to pick the next viable connection so we get a chance of cashback? Anyone know? It could possibly be viable for loads of us!

We also had an 18hr delay a few years back on a flight back to the UK BUT the plane had problems that meant a part had to come from elsewhere. They told us it was the same part had failed that starved all the crew/passengers of oxygen on a Greek flight a short while before, where everyone died. Haven't even looked at this one as presumably it would be exempt from any payment?

Smashing TM! How much is the mag?

Had a productive morning at Ts! 8 pack of thirst pockets kitchen roll marked up at 3.25 each. Also part of a 3 for £5 promo going on at Ts on various dettol, fairy and thirst pocket products until 24/09. So we load up with three lots of the 8 thirst pockets. Thinking 24 rolls for a fiver? Brilliant. Then I told my mum about DTD if it didn't come off at the till. It didn't. 9.50 refund on a 9.75 spend :D my first DTD!

I also took a pic of the shelf edge. The guy on CS was very impressed. DTD without even having to ask for it.
