It does pay these stores you see. To be £3 more expensive and not to have all the coupons they've issued ever redeemed.

A big thank you to everyone for your kind words and support. Misty passed away peacefully this morning whilst I stroked her head. It was the best way she could have gone and in her own home, laying on her blanket. We then drove her to Raystede pet crematorium where we said our last goodbyes and left her in the safe hands of the lovely gentleman that runs it. When we get her ashes back we will scatter them in the park near home that she spent many happy hours running around. I'd like to sent big hugs back to everyone and feel for all that have also lost their beloved pets. x

Wacky glad to hear things went as well as possible given the circumstances, she will always be with you.

The Government will issue new guidance to schools telling them to avoid specially branded uniforms to keep uniform costs to a minimum for hard-working families.

David Laws, the Schools Minister, said the cost of clothing was often "unnecessarily high" at a time when household budgets were being squeezed.

Research shows that the average family with two children currently spends £450 on uniforms, coats and bags, with prices increasing by more than 40 per cent in just two years.

Existing school admissions rules in England already place a legal duty schools to ensure they do not discriminate against poor pupils. This includes keeping the cost of uniform to a minimum and ensuring items are “widely available in high street shops and other retail outlets”.

But it is feared that most schools are flouting the rules.

Our (state) primary school is a typical bad example where the fund-raising team runs the in-school uniform sales - and loads maybe 50% on the cost price to raise money for the school. Good cause - but we end up getting screwed on the price.

There's also a summer dress in the uniform we have to drive 25 miles to the only place that sells it - @ nearly £25 for a dress! Needless to say, I buy big so that it lasts 2 years, my daughter does tend to look like she has an ankle length dress on in year 1 but by year 2 we start wondering if it's a bit too mini skirt-ish:D

Anybody else get ripped off like this?
