Knocking through lounge/diner

We are going to knock through the lounge/diner wall as the lounge is far too small and we can't fit much in there.
Do you think that it would be better to have it totally open or to put an archway in?
My OH reckons it will look like a big corridor totally open and an arch means you can put doors in if you want.
What do you reckon? Also what do you think buyers would want if I sold the house at a later date?

I am not a big fan of archways in knocked through rooms personally."I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." — Confucius0

If you mean a square opening, often descibed as 'arch' that fit french doors comfortably then this is the ideal solution. You have the option of keeping it as one open plan room, or being able to define the space as two rooms by having doors fitted & the choice of whether to have them open or closed.
This is the arrangement I have in my current house but it was open plan when I moved here & I had the french doors fitted. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Our lounge and dining room were knocked into one before we bought the house. We have French doors between them, as others have said.
Please bear in mind though that in winter, the lounge takes much longer to warm up with the doors into the dining room open.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
