A Change Of Job And Hours

My partner currently works 33 hours but has been afford a job at 20 hours. She really wants to take this but would like to no if she will be penalized for taking a job with less hours, re benefits.
Are understanding is she might have to wait until April for any increase in benefits because she is working less hours.
This job would be ideal as its partime on a night with regular shifts on the same days. which would make it better for my job hunting. In her current job her working days can change weekly.
Thanks in advance

Do you/she have a child?
Do you live together / claim as a couple for tax credits?
Please provide the above information as the advice will be different depending on your answersI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
we will be living together as of next week and we have 1 child. she currently gets the benefits she is allowed, but we would like to no will we be told something like this 'no get lost you have lost your benfits because you chose to work less hours'0

she will currently be receiving working tax credits plus the 30 hour uplift, both these elements will cease when she closes her single claim and opens joint claim (assuming she takes the job) as, as a couple you need to be working a minimum of 24 hours between you0

will they tell her she can not go from a 30 hour job to a 20 hour job?0

No, but they WILL stop her working tax credits if you don't work 24 hours a week between you.
Edited to make it clear that it is working tax credits that will be affectedI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

Just to confirm that she will lose the working tax credits because you are not working 24 hrs between you but she will still have a claim for child tax credits.0 -

Do not assume that benefits will increase, It will be worth running through the calculators with both scenarios, as a couple with her working 33 hours and the other with a couple earning 20. You may find not only will salary be less but benefits could be too0
