My bathroom constantly makes noises. Every second bang bang not loud loud but you can hear it through two closed doors. If I turn the tap on it stops for a bit. But I've turned heating down in case it was the warm water heating the pipes. No difference. What can I do? What could it be? How much could it cost?
Cheers

Sounds like it's related to the plumbing. Could be an airlock somewhere in a waste pipe and the water stop-starting might be causing the knocking noise.
- Things to check would be the toilet cistern - make sure that the ball-valve is shutting off the water properly
- Check all over-flows
- Ensure all waste pipes are not blocked (basin, shower/bath etc)
- Is there an air-lock in the cold/hot feed to the basin or shower/bath?
- Do you have good water pressure?
- Any radiators in the bathroom? Are they bled properly?
- Depending on your boiler type, does it have adequate pressure for the CH system?
- Check for leaks - damp walls, wet patches on downstairs ceilingsEveryone is entitled to my opinion!0 -
Also we are a communal flats. I recently got a new boiler - if this makes a difference. I'll check this stuff out tonight. Hopefully get some sleeep. cheersHelp me to help you :santa2:0

Could it be just pipes banging together? The everything except the boiler pressure would be good (I think but will check) plus there is a raditaor in the bathroom but as I've just had a new boiler only about 6 months ago. All the radiators were bled and wouldn't thought a boiler would have issues so quickly. Just in case this worked out - any other suggestions? Thanks again!!Help me to help you :santa2:0

An airlock usually makes the banging noise. It might be one of the other flats has the airlock and you're hearing the result. Ask your neighbours if they've had any plumbing work done lately.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

that makes a bit of sense. One of the neighbours moved out and I've seen builders in and out. (The noises has been at night as well as day). Don't really talk to them but may start! lol cheersHelp me to help you :santa2:0

Ah yes! I had exactly this problem with a neighbour's boiler making a noise that I could hear - a low-level droning, pulsating noise. It was an old boiler which they've now had replaced and the noise has now gone.
I would check the boiler mountings - it might be vibration through the walls.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0 -
Simple test: switch your boiler off completely and listen for the noise to eliminate your boiler.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0

Thanks everyone. Turned out it was pressure from my boiler was too low.... oops:-)
Dropped to 0.4-0.5 filled it up by turning two taps under boiler to 1.5 -solved
