Hi, I'm really havig my fair share of tech problems! My Nexus 7 (32 gig) has suffered a screen crack. I've seen replacement screens on Ebay and am wondering if these are properly compatible and of the same pixel depth etc.
I've thought of just getting a new, cheap 16 gig one and swapping the boards, but as the new Nexus 7 has just come out I'm expecting the old style one to dramatically drop in price, so maybe I should wait a bit.

With the old N7's the screen is interchangeable it's just the new 2013 versions that have a different screen.
Probably best to get an old 16 or 8Gb N7 on eBay and swap the motherboard/screenLaters

THe old nexus - it's possible to change the screen - a replacement screen plus digitiser[ie the touch screen component] should cost you about 50 pounds . Check the feedback for the sellers before you order.
There are websites in UK offering to replace the screen component only - for about 60 pounds. This might be worthwhile if you know that the touch screen for your nexus works. I would still do a factory reset before sending the nexus off to a shop.
I have changed the screen for a 32 gb nexus, using a screw driver and a hair dryer. There are many forums and websites with instructions on how to do so. PLease bear in mind if the screen is heavily shattered towards the edge then it might be hard to remove the broken shards of glass, and may not be worth your while.
the first gen nexus 7 32 gb continues to sell for about 120 pounds on ebay, but you might be lucky enough to get one for 100 pounds - no guarantee that they aren't refurbished pieces btw.0
