Can I return shoes I've worn?

You can usually stop the slidy-ness by lightly scuffing up the sole of the shoe. When I have shoes that are too slippy, I use either some sandpaper or a fine grater (have also seen it done with some crisscrossing strokes of a knife), and lightly scrub the sole.
It's quite common with fashion shoes, that some don't have a good grip - I find with higher heel especially (which is why I have to create my own grip!).
Could this work with your shoes?
It may work temporarily, however working behind a bar the alcohol eats away at the soles of shoew and make them very smooth again. I went through a pair every couple of months when i was a barman.0 -
If the shoes are really slippy I would take them back saying that they have absolutely no grip and you cannot wear them.
Sometimes on this forum people go off on a tangent. I certainly don't expect a pair of 'fashion' shoes to be slippy and put up with them as I chose not to purchase an industrial pair.
Most shoes are 'fashion' shoes anyway. They should still be fit for purpose.
Good luck.0
