    - be aware the B,C,D,and E range of the Mk1 are ugly pug ugly,
    - the Ti 's are the ones you would expect to see in today's modern homes.

The prefixes are 'T' for timer and 'i' for thermostat, a 'Ti' has both the (1) room temperature thermostat and the (2) 24 hour timer [On / Off in any 15 minute periods] and vary in length from 29 for the 0.75 kWTi to 43 inches for the 1.5 kWTi.

As Andy_WSM states, a room temperature stat [fitted to each Ti] automatically responds to the air temperature of the room, and provides finer tuned control and comfort than a panel-stat.

    - gas [closed] wet central heating radiators give off [ish] 80% radiated and 20% convection
    - gel [closed] filled radiators give off [ish] 80% radiated and 20% convection
    - storage [open] heaters with an open damper give off [ish] 20% radiated and 80% convection
    - storage [closed] heaters with an closed damper give off [ish] 90% radiated and 10% convection
    - cheepo [closed] filled radiators give off [ish] 40% radiated and 60% convection
    - aldi / liddle [open] cheepo convector's give off [ish] 40% radiated and 60% convection

Radiated is better than convected, convected heat tends to go straight up to the ceiling. Radiated heat is omni-directional, the distribution is linear to surface size. That sounds a dramatic difference, but it isn't, the difference between the floor and ceiling with convected is only an [ish] of 3% unless you live in a completely open plan dwelling, still is better to have that 3% warming your knees than the ceiling rose.

Substances with high specific heat capacities take a lot of heat energy and therefore a long time to heat up and also a long time to cool down. The SHC of a substance is the heat needed to raise the temperature of 1 kg of the substance by 1K [or by 1°C] so for example the sea [4200] takes yonks to heat up and cool down, copper [385] heats and cools quick, lead would have a SHC of 126 and the bricks in storage heaters would be about 880 which is similar to the 915 of the alloy in Rionte and other products.

What are you classing as a cheepo filled radiator? The oil free type? Or are classing enclosed separate to closed?

Oil filled, .. .. Cheepo meaning the quality of the alloy in terms of heat distribution & retention, the stat accuracy, the transfer properties of the magic oil and usually an energy management microchip are the distinctive difference between cheep and the others.
