Short term home insurance

Hi,
I need some advice on home insurance.
We are moving house next week and will be moving into a family property that is currently unoccupied.
As far as I know, the property has buildings but not contents insurance because there's nothing & nobody in it.
We will be living in it with our possessions for 1-2 weeks so we need some contents insurance.
Is it possible to get weekly home insurance (like the car insurance that you can now get)? The only short term policies I can find seem to be designed for homes that are unoccupied because the owners are away for long periods of time.
Any suggestions?

Could you just amend your current insurance? Or take out a new one and then amend it when you make your more permanent move? Or take out 12 month insurance, but cancel it early - if you can find a insurer who don't charge a fee for this, I think Lloyds are one that don't (or at least they used to be, not sure now).0

We lived in the vacant property of a family member for a while - and were unable to get contents insurance as we did not own nor rent it. We even tried a specialist broker who couldn't find a policy either.I am the Cat who walks alone0
