Damaged washer - where do we stand?

I reserved a washer on Currys website this afternoon and went to collect it with my mum. We left the store just before closing time and two men loaded the washer into my car. When we returned home and my husband set about unpacking the washer we have discovered that it is severely damaged, the top of it seems to be made of an MDF type material and it is all cracked and fractured, right the way across the top of the machine. From the kind of damage that it is it seems as though something very heavy has been dropped onto it, but it was covered in polystyrene that shows no damage?

We are a bit worried that they will be awkward about a replacement as we collected it ourselves but this damage has most certainly not been done while we have been in possession of the washer. Customer service lines are now closed as is the store. Anybody got any advice? Thanks
