I cannot see how you will be able to claim JSA and receive Carer's Allowance. If you are claiming JSA you have to be job-hunting and willing to drop everything if a suitable job turns up: that doesn't sound consistent with caring for someone for over 35 hours pw.

Unless you can find all the paperwork about your parents' current benefits situation, I don't think you'll be able to sort this out over the weekend. Plus, as explained, you may need some expert advice before you decide what the best course of action is.

it is possible to claim JSA and carers, but the OP wouldnt need to as receiving carers would entitle them to income support.

im a bit concerned that the OP keeps repeating that money is taken off the father and paid to the mother.

this just doesnt make sense, as it isnt how carers works.
maybe the father is claiming means tested benefit and so the carers allowance us deducted from his payments. but he should them have a catrts premium added.

the OP really needs to find out exactly which benefits are being paid and to whom.

the parents would obviously lose the carers allowance if the OP claimed, but then the other means tested benefit would rise to cover that loss. the only monetary loss in that case would be the carers premium
