Don't want a state of the arts one, will only be for occasional letters and documents. Would like one with cheapest ink. Won't be doing photos . Thank you.

Get a wired one, wi-fi is far too slow by comparison.0

Have just brought my daughter an Epson XP205 for Uni..
£40 including the gratis inks. 12 compatible inks (3 sets) from Amazon £12.
She is currently using it wifi and it seems as quick as the wired home printer we have, another Epson. I have brought a USB so she can hard wire it if speed is an issue.
Seems an OK printer for the price and specification."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Something like this perhaps? I've always used HP Laserjets ... so much more reliable than inkjets whose cartridges dry up and print heads get blocked.

Did you consider a Laser printer ?
I use for middle heavy printing and im very happy with speed ,price per page ,there is no problem with blocked inks heads , low quality cheap compatible inks... etc.
I bought for myself a Samsung wireless printer with scanner SCX-3405W
Best Thing is that on 1 toner compatible cartridge you can print around 1000 pages (2000 on box but its depend what you printing) spending around 30$

Yes, looked at the one Oblivion marked and am quite impressed with it. Will order that today. Thanks to everyone for their help.0 -
I do find wireless printers remarkably unreliable. I've seen quite a number being returned as faulty, various makes. Technology/software isn't right yet.0
