Dishwasher - connect to hot or cold water?

Just bought a second-hand, Miele G1022 dishwasher. For best economy, should I connect it to the hot or cold water?

We have a gas condensing combi boiler.

What do the instructions say? If it has two feeds then connect to hot and cold. If only one feed then to the cold only.

Cold. There are no hot fill DWs.

The Miele manual (which googler kindly posted the link to) says:

"The dishwasher may be connected to a cold or hot water supply".

If you had a hot water tank, I would have said it may be more economical to connect it to the hot feed.

What is the energy rating of the dishwasher? Based on that, you may be able to work out the cost of heating the water using electricity vs. gas.

Had to email Miele to find out! It's A rated.

How do you heat your DHW?

    Cheers

PS I don't do Google but stand corrected.

  • If the DW only has one fill point then it's connected to the cold
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Thats not totally correct. Its recommended that the single feed be connected to a cold feed but if connected to hot the dishwasher will still work. Its just that there is no control on the water temp of the cycle and you may end up wasting energy using excessively hot water.
