Wow! What a busy thread! Good to see the world has still been spinning while I've been locked away clearing out my utility room... Kinda getting there - will need to post before and after pics later...

Pip- thanks for the kick off :) I had almost-off milk today and was going to make scones but then realised we had no flour!! Nooooooo!

Hello to all the new faces :D

    Stitchy - moving hoose?!

Catch up soon everyone once I've finished in the 'room of doom' aka the dumping ground aka my utility room!

Oh - bought some yoga kit (I lost £90 worth of kit on the train a couple of months ago so slowly replacing :( ) bought it on ebay using paypal a/c - money from surveys - so only had to put 99p towards it myself.

    xxx
  • Me again! Not quite as much progress this afternoon, but I have managed not to go out, so I've saved money on fuel and had a no spend day.

4 more cupboards sorted this afternoon and a few recipes researched for the slow cooker, might hang on to it for a bit at least as the weather seems to have turned autumnal here today!

1 x Washing load done, managed to get a bit on the line but had to keep going out and rescuing! Just about dry so a quick once over with the iron will sort I reckon! Next load about to be tackled! Only issue is once all our washing is clean and dry we don't have enough room for it all! Drastic action required! I'm determined to sort this house out if it take me all night!

I was going to go out tonight, but really don't fancy it, going to carry on with my de-cluttering and maybe make it as far as the bedrooms! I really must be getting old! :rotfl:

    So, today I will...
    [STRIKE]Check banks
    Check CC
    Check TCB[/STRIKE]
Sort through old envelopes to find one to post a textbook to Amazon in
[STRIKE]Meal planned for week and written shopping list-website I used reckoned shopping list will cost £9 (just me!) so will see how close I can get to that[/STRIKE] spent £11.90 but included some store cupboard things so overall not too bad!
    [STRIKE]Quick shower
Pop into town (walking) for shopping-need food, freezer containers, a black cardi, iron on turn up things and new work shoes and bday card for uncle
Also see if £1land have HDMI leads... Signed up to Clubcard TV last night so can hopefully connect laptop to TV[/STRIKE] success!
Try to get washing out on the line-big black cloud so not certain though! that didn't happen!

Overall not a bad day, slipped up and bought lunch though... Oops! Cooked another 4 meals whilst making dinner tonight, currently cooling to go into the freezer. Might be out tonight for a 'meet the flat mates' drink in town as we're all newbies to the area, but also all skint so won't be a late/expensive one!

Hope you've all had lovely days!

  • Sorry for all the posts! Not sure of the last time I was home alone on a Saturday night! Well, I've finally got to the end of the cupboards in the kitchen! Can't believe its taken me all day (with plenty of breaks/cups of tea/stopped to watch Strictly!) Had dinner from stores so a complete no spend day for me, which i think is the first in a very long time!

I'm sat looking at my floor-drobe and I really don't know where to start! I think I am therefore going to get an early night tonight and tackle some more tomorrow! Night all! :money:

Put a deposit on a diesel Land Rover Discovery (I currently have a 3.9 V8 Discovery which does 12MPG, the diesel will do about 27). :)

Shared 1/2 a bottle of wine and put the other half away for tomorrow.

Preparing myself to call the CC companies / collection agencies on Monday.

Finished writing my letter with attached SOA to said companies.

I have £10 in my "debt pot" so far but will be able to add another £100 tomorrow provided I don't spend much. :)

    Hi everyone

Shazzer - don't go apologising about all the posts - it's good to hear what you've been up to - and we're here to listen, esp when you're home alone :)

AlexLK - welcome to the thread :T

I've been trying to sort out the utility room and looks like I can do it with minimal spends - just need a couple of storage solutions and little bits and bobs costing £15 max.

Me today in no particular order:
    • Take the hound a nice walk
    • Organising the house just a little bit more
    • Yoga coursework - must finish today
    • Do my own nails
    • Night in with OH
    • Find something to put in SC for tonight's tea
    • Get lunches ready for the working week
    • Meal planning for the week ahead
    • Crochet tutorials free courtesy of you tube

Crikey - doesn't look much but I can't imagine getting it finished!
  • Morning all, having a lazy morning, just done a Mr T order for collection on way past tomorrow evening, managed to get C&C for free, used a £1 coupon and £2.63 price promise voucher. I also whilst I was on, ordered my Hubby a new Clubcard as he doesn't have one linked to my account and did the boost thing and got myself 3000 BA Exec points transferred which will go towards next years holiday (we have BA Amex and only £4k left to spend until we get a companion voucher - pay it off in full every month!)

Checked all my accounts this morning and everything seems in order, moved couple of bits around to look a bit tidier!

One load of washing was in the dryer overnight, glad I did as it chucked it down here, so would have been more soaked if I left them on the line!

Bit of ironing for me today and another washing load, work stuff I should have really put on yesterday! Going for a quick swim and have shower at the gym before heading to see my Granny, she seems to be doing well (thought we were going to lose her last weekend, heart attack, pneumonia and kidney failure!)

Hubby back tonight! I've defrosted him a lovely pie, but not got anything out for myself! Will have to sort that one out today or maybe just beans on toast for tea!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone, seems to feel even more wintery today!

Are you an eBay seller who sends good by post?
Read this before listing any more items!

There's an article written by Martin explaining that eBay now take a cut of postage costs. eBay usually take a 10% cut of the overall price of an item, known as a Final Value Fee. From yesterday, this fee has been extended to include taking 10% off your postage costs too.

So if you list postage as what it'll actually costs to dispatch the item you may end up out of pocket because eBay will take 10% of your postage costs off you!

    (Link to read the article)

To me, this is just another example of eBay trying to make ever increasing profits from its sellers. No wonder folk are moving to alternative sites like eBid (Link) by the hundreds.

    Morning Money Savers,
Some good positive small things this weekend, others not quite so good (but haven't been in any wool shops, lol!)
*Weekly shop came in at £9 over. I was expecting it to be a lot more, as bought extra things for friend coming to stay. Had a 10 x Co-op points voucher which came to about £6 in cash terms.
*Rounded up latest lot of windfalls & discovered a new load of blackberries poking thru hedge from neighbour's side, so made blackberry & apple crumble.
*Picked salad, dug potatoes (well, mr f did the hard labour on that, to be fair), picked more tomatoes, courgettes & beans.
    *Made bread rolls & loaf.
    *Did a Ugov survey.
*Saved leftover pulled pork to do 2 lunches & another meal.
*Sunday dinner as per meal plans - pork slices in gravy from the freezer (from a past bit of 'rubber pork' activity), veggies from the garden, dessert is last night's leftovers.
*Decide what to do with our Humax box once Virgin Media has installed new Tivo box. Can't decide whether to keep box in case we need it again, or to sell it to friend. Mentioned we were considering listing it on ebay & friend said 'Ooooh, no, we're looking for one of those!' Have told mr f that if we sell it, we are not buying a new one if Tivo box turns out to be plop.
*Rest of today has to be hardcore knitting so I can get project finished & start my Christmas present-knitting. Just had to unpick 2 rows - was discussing Coalition's lack of fair, coherent housing policy with friend & got so wound up, I found I had knitted 2 rows of complete rubbish!
That's it for me - will do better in the week (I hope!)
    Cheers friends,
