Tesco Homephone & Broadband; 18185.com; TopUpNow; Plusnet.

I signed up with Tesco towards the end of February for a year but have now switched to Plusnet because the Tesco service was not very good. It took a lot longer for the broadband to 'settle down' than they said it would, but even then it tended to freeze easily and regularly and was slow to load pages up.

Also Tesco said they don't bar any other telephone services but I could not use over-riding phone services like 18185.com. I could not use the 18185 pre-fix and had to use 18185's freephone number instead. This meant that UK calls cost me more, at 1p a minute plus 5p connection charge - using the prefix you only pay the connection charge and can speak indefinitely even at peak times. So cheap.

Also I could not use TopUpNow a similar service which I use to phone Australia at 5p PER CALL - I speak to my brother for up to 2 hours for 5p!!! Excellent.

I tried several times to get Tesco to resolve the problems but they never phoned me back, not once, like they said they would each time, to let me know what they had done to try to sort this out. So I had to just try them out every so often on my phone. They did, just before I left them, sort out the TopUpNow service but it is the 18185.com service I use mostly.

Now I am with Plusnet, I can use both over-riding services with no problems and the broadband service is much better than Tesco's.
