Food Bank

Lots of food banks springing up in my area & I am just wondering if anyone has experience of them. Either in receipt of a food handout or involved in their administration. I would be interested in hearing any views.

Views about what? DH has had quite a lot of involvement with two; I know various people who volunteer. I think it's an indictment of government policy that they're needed, but since they are ... it's a good job they are springing up all over the place!

I've got involvement with one of the local food banks, and two supermarkets are donating their not sold reduced stock to us, that's past the sell-by, but not the 'best before', so we can allocate it in the next 24h. We usually offer 5 days food per person, and have one of the shortest waiting lists in the country due to local support.

With the number of people needing the support that we offer, I'm happy that there are food banks opening up everywhere!
