Help choosing an iPad please.

Im not very techy and dont understand 3rd/4th generation, cellular. Just need it for youtube, games, photos, facetime etc.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be thankful. Advice on good deals etc most welcome.

Are the refurbished ones from Apple any good?

TIA

Are you likely to need it outside of anywhere that has wifi?
If not, eliminate 3G models from your choice
  • Wifi is ok for using at home or places with free wifi eg McDonald's but need a cellular one if need Internet everywhere like Internet on a mobile phone. I have the iPad 2 as the extra features of the iPad 4 didn't appeal to me for the extra money.

  • Probably not. Does that make a huge difference in price?

Yes it can make a difference.
  • I believe retina is a clearer picture. I think 16g wi fi will be enough for me? Always got my iPhone for tinternet.
  • I have the 16 but I don't buy lots of music and film

My Ipad 1st generation was 64gb and 3g.

My replacement was 3rd generation and 32gb and Wi-Fi only. I use my phone as a tethering point when I need it.

    Hope this helps.
  • Whats a tethering point? Ta

My phone can act as a mobile tethering point (that is it's provides 3g connection when Wi-Fi is not available) so I didn't need to buy the 3g version with its own SIM like I did with the Ipad1 I bought. I have Virgin unlimited data at £12.34 month on a monthly contract. Hope this helps.
  • Is it only certain phones or contracts you can do tethering with?
