Alloy wheel repair

I live in Alfreton Derbyshire and I am having real problems finding anyone who will repair three curbed and one corroded wheel. Same day service would help too since the only guy I have spoken too seems to think three to four days is reasonable. Can anyone help and give me a guide to a price??

Thanks in advance

None of the sites listed seem to give any prices. One gives only the price they charge for removing the tyre and re-fitting and balancing. £11.75+ just for tyre fitting seems pricey to me.

Do you have the slightest clue what's involved? Do you think you're the only customer?

Just how quick do you think it's possible to sandblast, skim on a lathe then prep and paint/powdercoat wheels?

    Another comedian....

And £11.75 to remove and refit/balance isn't expensive as a balance alone is £5 a wheel at most places.

Depends how bad they are, there are mobile firms that will do the work at your house,Many garages also know someone local who will carry out this work,i could suggest a couple if you lived in the northwest!!

Cost for a complete refurbishment can be almost as expensive as a cheap new set of wheels,or some good quality second hand ones,it depends if yours are original equipment and you want to keep it that way.If they are after market ones have a look round, you could even p/ex them.

There's two companies near me that do wheel refurb.

You can leave the car with them for same day service for around £200 for all four wheels. 2-3 day service is about £160.

Mobile companies such as Wicked Wheels are fine for minor refurb but not for corroded wheels.

Not the places I go to. Can get it done for £7 including tyre disposal. There's an obvious reason these places don't advertise the prices of alloy restoration, and it's because it's expensive.

If you don't care too much about the look and just want to refresh the alloys and the wheels aren't worth much to you, you can get alloy wheel paint cans for £2.99 from wilco motosave and bodge it. Use newspaper and masking tape on the tyres. I carefully used paint stripper chemicals to remove the existing paint and lacquer and then sanded the wheel, applied primer and then the wheel paint then lacquer (but you have to be careful applying that allowing plenty of time to dry between coats). It didn't turn out too badly and cost nowhere near £160.

Again, after replying to this thread ,i am reminded of how many threads are started, answers given and then the op is never heard of again.Did he read the replies?or never return to the thread,or perhaps post when drunk, fed up,or on impulse,or even forget the forum he /she was on?

I dont want a thank you but would like to know what the op did and if it worked!!not just on this thread especially but on loads of others too.
