Hi, I'm after a little advice please. I start a new job on Monday after being on ESA for around 3 years. I'm trying to work out benefits I will still be able to I know I will still get child tax credit and child benefit as my son is staying on in education. I think I will possibly still get some housing/council tax benefit and possibly working tax credit, I've tried to work it out myself but how I get paid is causing me problems, I don't even know how to tell the relevant department when I start working. I'm going to be a home carer the pay is £7 weekdays £8 weekends. 70p per hour for holiday enhancements added to every hour I work and 50p per hour incentive bonus which is paid every quarter providing my employer has no reason to deduct it.
Any help at all?

How many hours does your contract state? You could use this as a basis. if it is a 0 hours contract then you will have to ask your employer to say the number of hours they expect you will work (this is important for tax credits as you will need to be doing 16 hrs to get working tax credits.)
For tax credits I expect you will have to do an estimate of how much you earn. Overestimate rather than underestimate to avoid an overpayment.
For HB and CT purposes they will want to see some payslips and/or your contract. Best to telephone them and see what they want.0 -

Thanks very much I will apply for that. I'm on a zero hour contract but am guaranteed 18 hours a week unless clients have gone into hospital my hours may go under 16 what happens then? I really would like to find out how much I will get in WTC and also wages but with this pay scale I've no idea how to work it out.0
