Can't send emails but can receive (Vista & Talktalk)

Hi, we have been running windows vista for a few months now with no probs. We now have a prob where we can receive emails but not send them (from 2 of our addresses - typically the kids ones are working!). Have spoken to 3 Talktalk tech advisers and stumped them. When we click on send for a new msg, it goes to the outbox but doesn't send and there are now a few in there waiting to go. Also, keep getting the msg 'One or more of your messages in your Outbox do not have a valid account specified'. Any ideas? Ta

Are the two problem addresses talktalk addresses? Are these two using SMTP Server: smtp.talktalk.net when sending? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Check your mail account settings, they should be:-
Email server details
Pop server: mail.talktalk.net
Smtp server: smtp.talktalk.net
Username: youremailaddress@talktalk.net
Password: yourpassword
See http://www.help.talktalk.net/servicestatus.htm for more info0 -
Everything is set up correctly. Talktalk got me to delete one of the addresses and re-set up, which I've done and now that keeps asking me for the user name & password. Whatever I put in, it won't accept.0

Can you access the email account through TalkTalk webmail?0

Have you actually sent an e-mail to the accounts that you are having problems with?NOTE: Before you can send emails, you have to receive one in your inbox. This will activate your new email account. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I can access through webmail. The email accounts aren't new, they've been running fine for 12 months.0

The settings in your e-mail client are probably incorrect then. Compare each setting with the accounts that work. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Settings for all the addresses are the same. I've managed to get the password accepted on the one that was re-set up so that's receiving emails again now. Just the prob with sending on 2 out of the 4 addresses.0

Delete the problem accounts and start again. If you can access these accounts via webmail, the problem is your in set-up. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

A couple of times over the last few days I have deleted the problem accounts and re-set them to no avail. Thanks for being so quick with your suggestions but I think I've exhausted them all now. Think I'll go and have a brew 'cos it's winding me up now!!0
