Car scratched .. Bit of a rant

Whilst chatting outside today some nice kind person scratched the side of my car. As they were about to drive off I went to have a look and although it will be a t cut job i am really a little annoyed.they realised and pulled in. There are no scratches on theirs.
The guy got out of the car and could not speak a word of English. His wife then arrived who did but between them all I got was to take it the garage and give them the bill. I refused this but as it was raining said let me check it later properly when is stopped as it only looks minor scratch. The lady then says he wants to know where I was as I was not in the car so he did not do it. OMG. I nicely pointed out I was stood next to my car and so it starts.
It has taken me twenty minutes, I am wet thru just to get them to understand that it is my car and that I don't want to take the car to a garage and make them pay lots of money for a mark that will probably polish out when is dry.
I think I might claim on the insurance for the cost of a hot shower, drying my clothes and a hot cup of coffee. In 24 hours I will have pneumonia. I think this then might make them happy.
Why do some people always think the worse of you?
