Laptop has vertical line on LCD screen one pixel wide

Hi,

I have an Advent 4214 laptop. It has just developed a single, purple vertical line down the screen, one pixel wide. It is there from the moment I turn on the PC. It does not go away when I gently press the line on the screen with my finger.

I have tried:

• Updating the drivers:they seem fine.
• Running a virus scan. No problems found.
• Doing a system restore to two days ago before the problem appeared. Doesn't help.

What else can I try?

Would be so, so grateful for any advice as the machine's warranty has expired.

it's probably a fault either with the screen or the connection , a new screen would be the only way to fix it , try a local pc repair - shouldn't be too much to fix , a new screen for around £40 on amazon

Sounds like a broken screen.

About £40 on Ebay.

Sounds like a hardware screen problem.
Local PC shop should be able to replace it easily.
