Pension Credit - Non-dependant

Would a Pension Credit claim be affect by a non-dependant living in the household? (married couple, husband put PC claim in, adult child living with them, wife in receipt of DLA [middle rate care]). Thanks

The Pension Credit claim in itself would not be affected because of a non dependent. Any money paid by the non dependent to the claimant for living expenses is disregarded.

Non dependents affect Housing Benefit and Council Tax support.

However, in this case, because the claimant is in receipt of the care component of DLA no deductions for HB or CB support would be made.

But Pension Credit will still ask for details of the non-dependant's circumstances in case of any future change of circumstances (eg if the DLA award ended).

I'm not an expert on Pension credit but if the couple recieve the Severe Disablement Premium in their PC, would that be affected?

I know that in HB, a person would lose it so just worth a mention perhaps?
I currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.

    It would indeed.

OP only mentions the wife being in reciept of DLA Care - to qualify for the SDP both would need to be in reciept of medium or higher rate DLA Care or Attendance Allowance.
